Tips for Success on Your hCG Diet!

1. Have a sweet craving you just can’t fight?  You can make yourself an iced coffee with Stevia. It's not quite like Starbucks, but you can try that. Also you may like to take your handful of strawberries and make a smoothie to drink. Just add water, ice and Stevia in your blender. You won't even be cheating!

2. When I felt hungry between meals. I would roll a bite or two of left over chicken into a leaf of lettuce like a sandwich and it made a good snack. Then I would cut back on the amount of meat (chicken, fish, etc.) at the next meal.

3.  To stay on the hcg diet, I found that eating a sliced tomato or cucumber with salt and pepper between meals really helped to keep me going and on target with the next meal. You can even broil the tomato in the oven or toaster oven with some spices. I'm not sure why it was so satisfying. It is on the hormone diet, and the few (fat free, sugar free) calories didn't seem to hinder my losing weight.

4.  Plan your weekly menu and cook everything on Sunday.  Separate your portions out into ziploc bags and Tupperware and never worry about being without your hCG portioned meal!

Always on the go on your hCG diet?  Try these quick tips to help stay on track...

  • Order a plain hamburger patty with a side of sliced tomato and some strawberries for dessert.
  • Run into your local grocery store and grab a ready made salad.  Use some salsa as your dressing.  Even grabbing some fat free cottage cheese from the grocery store will be better for your diet than eating a piece of chicken cooked in oil from a local restaurant.
  • When ordering white fishes or chicken in restaurants make sure to specifically ask that there be seasoning only, no butter or extra sauces.  Order some steamed asparagus with no butter and you have a beautiful evening out!

Benefits of Wu Long Tea

-Wu-Long Tea Burns Calories

- Wu-Long Tea Blocks Fattening Carbs - Researchers in Japan discovered that drinking Wu-long tea before consuming carbs (15 minutes before) reduces the effect of the insulin boost usually associated when carbs are eaten. This means the carbs that are usually stored and converted to fat are blocked. You can eat cake, pasta, bread etc without gaining the weight associated with carb intake.

- Wu-Long Tea Promotes Great Skin - In a new study published in the academic journal Archives of Dermatology, researchers from Japan's Shiga University of Medical Science found that drinking Wu-Long daily had a dramatic skin clearing effect, within about 4 weeks of regular consumption.

- Wu-Long Tea Reverses Signs of Aging - As we age the effect of stress, pollution, processed food additives etc.. take its toll on your body by creating free radicals. These free radicals are responsible for producing many of the visible signs associated with aging such as dark spots and wrinkling of the skin. Drinking Wu long has been proven to reduce and destroy 1/2 the amount of free radicals in the body thus may help reduce the visible signs associated with aging.

- Wu-long Tea Promotes Strong, Healthy Teeth - A study from the Dept of Dentistry at Japan's Osaka University , concluded that routine and regular consumption of Wu-Long tea reduced the effect of plaque deposit thus preventing tooth decay. This is due to the anti-bacterial effect against oral streptococci

- Strengthens Your Immune System - Drinking Wu-Long tea can bolster the immune system as suggested by recent studies, probably due to the strong antioxidant properties inherent in all teas.

Sodium.... A Sneaky Culprit for most Pleateaus'

Though the protocol allows for the usage of free salt, the daily amount taken should be roughly the same, as a sudden increase will be followed by a corresponding increase in weight as shown by the scale.  An increase in the intake of salt is one of the most common causes for an increase in weight from one day to the next.  Such an increase can be ignored, provided it is accounted for, if it in no way influences the regular loss of fat.  To better understand this plateau… Under the influence of hCG the blood is saturated with food and the blood volume has adapted itself so that it can only just accommodate the 500 calories which come in from the intestinal tract in the course of the day.  Any additional income, however little this may be, cannot be accommodated and the blood is therefore forced to increase its volume sufficiently to hold the extra food, which it can only do in a very diluted form.  Thus it is not the weight of what is eaten that plays the determining role but rather the amount of water which the body must retain to accommodate this food.  This is illustrated well in mentioning the case of salt.  In order to hold one teaspoonful of salt the body requires one liter of water, as it cannot accommodate salt in any higher concentration.  Thus, is a person eats one teaspoonful of salt his weight will go up by more than two pounds as soon as this salt is absorbed from his intestine.

Health Benefits From Drinking Yerba Mate Tea

There are many positive effects of yerbe mate tea drinking that have been observed by
consumers, and further confirmed in scientific studies. The positive effects listed below have been directly or indirectly attributed to drinking yerba mate infusions.

Induces Mental Clarity - Yerba mate has the ability to quicken the mind and increase mental alertness and acuity. Yerba mate also provides sustainable energy due to its complex combination of xanthine alkaloids and caffeine. Although its caffeine content is comparable to coffee, the stimulation is balanced by yerba mate’s nutritional content.  Clinical studies have shown that caffeine-sensitive individuals generally have very positive results and don’t experience the hard side effects (jitters, stomach discomfort, headache) commonly associated with caffeine.

Sustains Energy Levels/Reduce Fatigue -Yerba mate is a central nervous system
stimulant. The metabolic effects of mate appear to include the ability to maintain aerobic
breakdown of carbohydrates during exercise for long periods of time. As a result, more
calories are burned, thereby increasing cardiac efficiency and delaying the build-up of
lactic acid. Additionally, mate’s blend of xanthine alkaloids: caffeine, theophylline and
theobromine, provide sustaining energy.

Aids in Weight Control - For many years now, physicians in Europe have been
incorporating yerba mate in treatments for obesity. In 2000, a research team studying
obesity at the Charlottenlund Medical Center in Denmark tested an herbal preparation of
Yerba Maté, Guarana, and Damiana (YGD) for gastric emptying and subsequent weight
loss. They concluded that the herbal preparation, YGD capsules, significantly delayed
gastric emptying, reduced the time to perceived gastric fullness and induced
significant weight loss over 45 days in overweight patients treated in a primary health
care context. In addition, maintenance treatment given in an uncontrolled context
resulted in no further weight loss, nor weight regain in the group as a whole. Guayaki
recommends that the product be used as part of a program that includes a healthy diet
and sufficient exercise.

Aids in Elimination -The indigenous of South America traditionally use yerba mate to
treat gastrointestinal disorders as eupeptic and choleretic agent. Research conducted by
a team at Catedra de Farmacologia in Buenos Aires, Argentina found that yerba mate
does in fact induce an increase in bile flow and enhance intestinal transit.

Fights Bad Breath - Polyphenols found in tea and yerba mate teas have been shown to
prevent both the growth of bacteria responsible for bad breath and the bacteria’s
production of odorous compounds.

Summer's Super Foods

Iced Green Tea
Skip the latte and reach for an iced green tea.  People who exercise and drink plenty of green tea actually can lose more weight and shed more unwanted belly fat than non-tea drinkers.  This is because of the chemical catechin which is found in tea - it can boost metabolism and increase fat burn.  Throw in some frozen berries or slices of nectarine, they act as a natural sweetener.  There is also the tea brand Bigelow teas, they come in natural flavors such as Pomegranate Green Tea or Constant Comment Green Tea, brew for iced tea as indicated by the directions on the box and enjoy!

Gazpacho
A cold soup like gazpacho before a meal is not only refreshing but it can also help you lose weight!  People who enjoy a small soup before an entrée consumed significantly fewer calories at meals than people who did not eat appetizers.

Watermelon
Everyone knows that watermelon is a natural thirst quencher, but the disease-fighting vitamin A and C packed into the rosy melon is the real reason it's a super-food.  We assume that because watermelon is so sweet, it must have a lot of sugar, but you can eat two cupcakes and it's just 92 calories.  Grab a slice of watermelon over a soda!  Serve watermelon in your salad with mint, onions, feta, and sprinkle with salt for a summer salad!

Vegetable Kebabs
Almost any vegetable or fruit can be grilled - even spinach!  Besides the usual suspect (zucchini, bell peppers, corn) you can wrap tomatoes and garlic in foil and toss whole heads of cauliflower and broccoli on the barbecue!  Watermelon even is a sweet treat to throw on the grill!

Fruit Salsa
Fruit salsa are a fresh (and light) take on an old standby.  Make your own using whatever fruits are handy - like mangoes, honeydew and cantaloupe - then add cilantro, chopped onions and a squeeze of lime to taste.  Spoon over grilled fish instead of butter, use as a fat-free salad dressing or eat it with chips instead of caloric-bomb nacho cheese or guacamole.

Myth vs Fact

With growing interest in the hCG diet many blogs and social sites are overflowing with information on the diet.  With all of the available resources who are we to trust?  In this issue we are going to review some of the most frequently asked question regarding the hCG diet.

Some say it will help increase your weight loss results by working out on the program.  This is a MYTH!  Excessive exercise during your protocol can actually cause your weight loss to slow down.  Keep your workout routines to some light cardio, yoga, or palates style workouts.

The original Simeons protocol calls to skip every 7th injection or to pause during the female menstrual cycle.  This is now being classified as a MYTH!  Over time studies have shown that skipping every 7th injection will actually cause an increase in hunger during a patients’ program.  During the female menstrual cycle it was originally suggested to skip as not to waste hCG due to an unavoidable plateau from hormones.  Just like the skip day, stopping during your monthly will cause an unnecessary increase in hunger.

Some patients want to start on their next cycle immediately following the 21 day maintenance period.  This is a MYTH and will actual hinder your results for the next round.  Your body needs the 21 days to stabilize but you need an entire 40 day break between hCG cycles.  Your body needs 40 full days in-between cycles to prevent a tolerance to the hCG and to full replenish our abnormal fat reserves, this helps keep a good momentum during future cycles and is safer for the body.  Any time you complete a cycle of hCG you need to extend your off time 20 days.  For example, between your first and second round of hCG you take 40 days off, between your second and third round of hCG you take 60 days off, third and fourth round 80 days off, and so on.

Each round of hCG is treated just like the previous round.  Some patients are concerned to gorge on the second or third round of hCG but is it a FACT, you need to gorge every time to begin a 40 day treatment on the diet.  Gorging is not limited to the approved foods for your phase 2.  Gorging is to the literal definition, eat until you cannot eat another bite, and then take two more bites!  Gorging during those first two injections gives your body a reserve of calories to release during the first week, the more you gorge the easier and more comfortable your first week is on the 500 calories.

Some of us have specific taste buds and are quite particular about what they eat.  People are always asking about what substitutions are allowed for the 500 calorie phase of the diet.  This is a MYTH, there are no substitutions allowed.   The most commonly requested substitutions are turkey, carrots, bananas, buffalo, etc.  These foods were around when Dr Simeon developed this protocol over 40 years ago and he worked very hard to make the list as appealing as possible.  If it is not on the list, it is NOT allowed.

Most dieters will know that when adhering to a strict diet it is best to take multivitamins to help support the body.  During the hCG protocol this is considered a MYTH and should be avoided.  Multivitamins will interrupt most dieters progress, usually due to having hidden sugars in them.  Only take the suggested supplements: Coral Calcium, Digestive Enzymes, Vitamin E, and Potassium, unless otherwise suggested by a Patient Services’ diet coach.

Your Summer Weight Loss Program

Now that you have completed a successful course on the hCG diet, how do you go back to normal dieting and still maintain your new weight?  While exercise is important, often the biggest weight loss changes come from your diet. Specifically, you want to make sure you burn more calories than you eat. One way to accomplish that is to follow a diet but keep in mind that many people have trouble following strict diets, so you may find greater success in making small changes over time.
Whether you decide to follow a specific diet or not, there are a few simple tips that will help you stay in control of your eating:
  • Add healthier foods to your diet.  It’s always easier to add to your diet rather than take foods away.  Instead of cutting out entire food groups, try adding something healthy to each meal and eat it first.  Salads, fruit, whole grain bread or a glass of water are just a few ideas and you’ll find that grilling up on the healthier stuff leaves less room for the naughty stuff.
  • Change one part of your diet.  Another way to approach this is to choose one unhealthy food you eat and get rid of it or finding a substitute.  Put all your energy towards changing just that one bad habit and leave the rest alone.  It’s easier to give up that Coke or candy bar when you know everything else stays the same.
  • Eat out less.  Just cutting out one or two nights of eating out can make a major difference in your waistline.  When you cook your own meals, you know exactly what you’re eating, control how much you get and you can make sure the ingredients you use are good for you.
  • Don’t skip meals.  Many people drastically cut calorie when they want fast weight loss and skipping meals is a popular choice.  The problem is, this can actually backfire.  Not only will you tend to eat more, you may actually slow down your metabolism which means your body is burning fewer calories.
  • Watch your portion sizes.  This is always an obvious one when it comes to cutting calories and probably the most difficult to follow.  After all, what’s a portion size?  One way to manage portion sizes is to use smaller plates and bowls.  It’s an easy way to cut your portions without feeling like you’re missing out.
  • Drink more water or tea.  Staying hydrated will ward off fatigue and help you deal with hunger and tea is often a great way to curb your appetite.  When you get the afternoon munchoes consider having a cup of calorie-free green tea instead of a candy bar.
One of the best parts of July? Welcoming back some of those warm-weather foods that help make summer so memorable. Who doesn't love to savor an ice cream cone after a day at the beach, dig into a burger at an outdoor cookout or munch on peanuts at the ballpark? The key, of course, is doing it in a way that allows you to still confidently pull on your swimsuit the next day. For tips on enjoying summertime snacks smartly, try a few of these game plans.

HCG Medical's Cheater's Package

Having problems staying on track with your hCG program?  Try ordering our new Cheater’s Package.  This includes sublingual B-12 drops, Metabolize Plus, Acai Plus, and Water Release Pills/Potassium.   This package is has a value of $150 but is going at an introductory price of $99.95, plus shipping!

Any time a dieter strays from the protocol, either by going over their 500 calories or by consuming foods or beverages not allowed on their approved phase 2, their body will get pulled out of a fat burning mode.  Typically an apple day is the cure for getting back on track.  If any of you hCG dieters out there have had to do an apple day you will know what I am talking about when I say that if there is anything that will want to drive you to cheat on this protocol it is an apple day!  Instead of doing an apple day an hCG dieter can safely take a Water Release pill for 3 days to get the body to release fluids retained from cheating and get back down to your pre cheat weight.  To prevent future cheating excursions we have also included some Metabolize Plus and B-12.  Metabolize Plus is a favorite among our patients because it provides an effective list of ingredients to help Increase Energy and Metabolism. With more than 200 milligrams of caffeine per capsule along with unique blend of Hoodia Cactus, Magnolia Bark, Banaba, L-Theanine, Green Tea and more, Metabolize Plus works very well just taking one capsule twice daily. Chromium is added to help promote proper blood sugar levels.  Since B vitamins play a role in energy metabolism in the body what better way to help promote fat burning from the inside out than with some B-12 supplements!  Please discuss dosages with a Patient Services representative before you begin taking any of these supplements while on your hCG.  Just remember, we have all fallen off the dieting wagon before, all you can do is get back on it and get back in a fat burning mode!  Don’t get yourself down, just get yourself skinny!

Break Through Your Plateaus with these tips…

Plateaus not only slow your weight loss, but sometimes they can slow your motivation.  Don’t let this happen!  Follow the tips below the break through your plateaus and keep moving towards success!  Some of the most common overlooked causes for plateaus are salt, protein deficiency, and the most obvious CHEATING!  As always with cheating the easiest fix is to stop cheating!  Some patients will cheat knowing that they can counteract this with an apple day.  Personally I avoided cheating after my first apple day, if anything was going to drive me to eat a hamburger it would be another day of eating nothing but apples!  Some patients though feel as though it is ok to cheat because there is always the option of an apple day.  Or some patients think that numerous apple days will help promote better results.  This mind set can actually counteract your results.  This diet is comprised mostly around protein, if you skip your protein or have too many apple days your body will get protein deficient.  In this state your body will begin to hold onto foods and you will not lose weight.  It is important to do a protein day following an apple day.  In a protein day you will want to take away a fruit or vegetable and add a serving of protein.  In a protein day feel free to use substitute protein sources like egg whites, fat free cottage cheese, or rice bran protein.  On the opposite end of the spectrum sometimes patients will experience so much success with the program that they do not feel the need to eat and just don’t.  It is fine to eat under the 500 calories but never skip your protein!  No matter what always get your 7 ounces of protein in daily.  If you have been strictly eating chicken and fish as your protein and are experiencing slow results you may want to consider adding a serving of top sirloin, egg whites, rice bran protein, or cottage cheese a couple of time throughout the week.  For more information on plateaus related to salt review “Sodium… A Weight Loss Offender” on the HCG Medical Blog.  Just remember, BE INTENTIONAL!  You can do anything for 40 days.

Plateaus - Don't Let Them Stall You!

When beginning an HCG Protocol the best advice that we can offer it to be intentional!  This applies to everything you eat, any supplements you take, and for some patients even the products you put on your body.   If your weight loss begins to slow or stall, do not panic!  If you have hit a lull in your weight loss due to cheating, your fix is easy – stop cheating!  If you don’t think you have done anything wrong but are still experiences plateaus or slow weight loss then start by asking yourself these questions:
  • Are you weighing your meats raw?
  • Are you eating foods not allowed on your phase 2 foods?
  • Are you eating over 500 calories?
  • Are you drinking your gallon of water daily?
It is extremely important to weigh your meats raw.  Any variance, no matter how small, from the approved phase 2 foods will cause a stall or halt weight loss in some patients.  Dr Simeon developed this protocol over 40 years, if broccoli, corn, mushrooms, or olive oil were allowed on the diet he would have thought of them 40 years ago.  The nutritional composition of the approved foods list is extremely important to follow for success on the protocol.   Eating over your 500 calories can pull your body out of its fat burning mode.  If this occurs you will experience more hunger than usual, if you are hungry drink some wu long or green tea, eating that extra snack to soothe your hunger will only increase it.  Throughout the protocol our bodies are releasing fats to burn as energy and flushing the excess through our urine.  The gallon of water daily will keep your kidneys clean and help the body to flush these excess fats.  Don’t skip out on your water!  If you don’t think you are doing anything wrong and are following the above guidelines then review the most common errors list below and consider some of the following ideas.  Keep in mind that plateaus are not uncommon, and if you stick to the protocol they WILL pass.  The following tips can help you both psychologically and physically and make it through the slow times:
  • Try adding a glass or two of green tea to your day.
  • Don’t eat 2 apples for the two fruits or cut down on the size of the apples.
  • Cut American beef and/or buffalo down or out.
  • Consider that Melba toast, tomatoes, and shrimp stall some people.  Therefore, if you eat these food items quite a bit and your weight loss is slow, you may want to try cutting these foods down or out to see if your rate of loss increases.  You may not be affected by some or all of these, so you should check one food at a time.  To test yourself for sensitivity (slowed weight loss), have only one of the foods three days in a row, then repeat those three days’ menus changing only the one food being tested.  Compare the average weight loss from the first three days to the second three days.  If there is no difference, consider the food safe.  If there I a significant difference, drop the food that caused the sensitivity.
  • Check all condiments for any form of sugar.  ‘Garlic salt’ may list sugar as an ingredient.  Any seasoning salt or seasoning product must be carefully checked.
  • If mixing your vegetables in a meal, stop.
  • If having trouble with constipation, try Smooth Move tea or an over the counter suppository.  Be cautious of laxatives as they can also cause a stall in your weight loss.  Constipation on the protocol is defined as going more than 4 to 7 days without a movement.
  • Try leaving out some or all of the allotted breadsticks or Melba toast.
  • Make sure there are no additives in chicken or other protein sources – many times these are injected with some form of sugar even in the grocery store.
  • For women, your cycle may be coming into play – review Dr. Simeons’ manuscript or contact HCG Medical Patient Services.

Complaints say diet drug hCG is being sold outside pharmacies

Utah officials are receiving an increasing number of complaints that a popular prescription diet drug is being sold outside pharmacies.

The hormone, human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG), is found in women who are pregnant and normally triggers the burning of fat cells for energy to help the fetus grow. However, the hormone is now being used in conjunction with a 500-calorie-a-day diet, causing the burning of fat cells when they would normally be stored.
Division of Occupational and Professional Licensing Director Mark Steinagel said he is actively looking into several allegations of improper prescribing. He said the division first started receiving complaints in May, fielding numerous calls on a weekly basis. Steinagel said only a doctor or nurse practitioner can prescribe the drug and only a pharmacy can legally distribute it.

"Our biggest concern is that people need to have the right prescription for them," he said.
"Pharmacies have restrictions on how products are stored, who has access (so that) it's more difficult to taint a drug," he said.

Steinagel said the division is investigating the complaints, along with several classified ads, and he feels action will soon be taken against some of the companies, in the form of fines and possible criminal action.
Jane Driggs, a spokeswoman for the Better Business Bureau, said complaints have been filed on four companies selling hCG, but none of the complaints had to do with the hormone being sold without a prescription. Driggs said all four of the companies have opened within the past six months, and two opened in September.
Consumer protection agencies are also concerned about an increasing number of classified ads from businesses and individuals selling the hormone in varied forms at prices ranging from $29.99 to $250.

HCG was popularized by the book "The Weight Loss Cure 'They' Don't Want You to Know About" by Kevin Trudeau. Since the book's publication in April 2007, people have been flocking to the hCG diet. Doctors are still debating the risks associated with the hormone.

Dr. Wayne Askew, professor and director for the Division of Nutrition at the University of Utah, said that the hCG hormone is produced by the placenta during pregnancy. "It triggers the use of fat storage when increased energy is needed for a developing fetus to grow," he said. Askew said when the hormone is given to a person who is not pregnant, it causes the body to rapidly use fat for energy. The hCG hormone is most commonly injected daily, but companies also sell it in a droplet form placed on the tongue, as an oral pill and a spray. The hormone is prescribed along with a 500-calorie-a-day organic diet.

Askew said usually when the body is receiving only 500 calories a day, it goes into starvation mode and the body burns less energy when it is at rest.

"I don't view this as particularly desirable. If a person is on a low-calorie diet he is going to lose weight anyway," he said. "Studies don't seem to show that it does that much, or that it increases weight loss. We would call it a fad diet that someone is trying to popularize."

Askew added that a 500-calorie diet doesn't allow the body to get sufficient quantities of the nutrients it needs, and recommends a vitamin supplement with any low-calorie diet.

Even though the hCG hormone is used naturally present in women during pregnancy, it is also found in low doses in men, just as females have a low level of testosterone. Although the hCG is marketed as natural, Askew said it is artificial to use it to stimulate a person's metabolic rate.

Draper resident Dan Jacobson was skeptical about the diet at first. When his wife's parents started to take the shots he thought it sounded fluky and doubted that someone could lose 30 pounds in a month and not be hungry. But after he saw the success of his wife's parents, who both lost 50 pounds, he decided to give it a try. The 28-year-old Jacobson is now on his third round of hCG shots and has lost 51 pounds so far. "I feel like I am 18 again. My energy level is really high. Getting that energy level back is amazing," he said. "I felt that it was not the only way (to lose weight,) but it's the easiest way," Jacobson said. He also feels more confident about using the hormone because it is becoming a lot more popular. He said he can't get his prescription at Draper pharmacies because they are usually out of stock, so he goes to a Sandy pharmacy.

None of the doctors contacted by the Deseret News responded to inquiries about how they prescribe hCG, but a voice recording for the company MD Diet on 3655 S. State St. explains how they administer the hCG hormone. The recording states that patients receive the shots for 45 days and men typically lose seven pounds a week while women lose five. The organization recommends a three- to six-week rest period between therapy rounds. The recording states that the body doesn't lose structural fat, but abnormal weight only, from fat pockets such as "love handles." The company charges a $125 setup fee and $10 for each injection, which would total $575 for a complete cycle.

What makes Wu Long, Yerbe Mate, Green Tea, and Chamomile tea so important for the hCG diet?

One of the most popular questions asked in Patient Services is “Do we have to drink the teas?”.  The teas listed for Phase 2 have endless benefits not only for the hCG protocol but for your health in general.  Review the important facts about each tea and how they can help you with reaching your health and wellness goals!
Wu Long Tea (sometimes called Oo Long Tea)
Wu Long ea helps block fattening carbs.  Researchers in Japan discovered that drinking Wu-long tea before consuming carbs (15 minutes before) reduces the effect of the insulin boost usually associated when carbs are eaten.  This means the carbs that are usually stored and converted to fat are blocked.
Wu Long tea promotes great skin.  In a new study published in the Academic Journal Archives of Dermatology, researchers from Japan’s Shige University of Medical Science found that drinking Wu Long daily had a dramatic skin clearing effect, within about 4 weeks of regular consumption.
Wu Long tea reverses signs of aging.  As we age the effect of stress, pollution, processed food additives, etc. take its toll on your body by creating free radicals.  These free radicals are responsible for producing many of the visible signs associated with aging such as dark spots and wrinkling of the skin.  Drinking Wu long has been proven to reduce and destroy half the amount of free radicals in the body thus may help reduce the visible signs associated with aging.
Wu long tea strengthens your immune system.  Drinking Wu Long tea can bolster the immune system as suggested by recent studies, probably due to the strong antioxidant properties inherent in all tea.s
Yerbe Mate Tea
There are many health benefits associated with Yerbe Mate, gained from its nutritional and chemical compounds.  Research suggest that the special was in which Yerbe Mate is consumed makes it uniquely beneficial to the human body.
Yerbe Mate tea:

·         Is a good detoxifier
·         Produces deeper sleep
·         Boosts the immune system
·         Relieves allergies
·         Possible reduces the risk of diabetes and hypoglycemia
·         Relaxes muscles
·         Decreases hunger cravings
·         Beneficial to the digestive tract

Some of these benefits derive from Yerba Mate’s similarity to Green Tea.  Its processing method, like that of green tea, preserves similar antioxidants and nutritive values.  Other benefits derive from Yerbe Mate’s unique compounds.  The Journal of Ethno pharmacology identifies many of Yerbe Mat’s helpful nutrients, “vitamins B-1, B-2, A, riboflavin, carotene, colin, pantothenic acid, inositol and 15 types of amino acids.”  Significant quantities of potassium, sodium, and magnesium are present in the leaves as well as the infusion.  All of these nutrients are important to healthy body function and important to have present while on the hCG protocol.
Green Tea
For centuries green tea has held strong to its reputation as a very effective and trustworthy anti-oxidant for all kinds of health problems and diseases.  The Chinese have been using it for over 4,000 years to treat problems like headaches and infections and is now being tested and proven with hard evidence of its strong healing properties by science and research institutions all over the world.  The benefits of green tea include a lot of healing and preventive processes that cater to diseases like cancer, heart disease, rheumatoid arthritis, infections, impaired immune functions, and cardiovascular diseases.  The benefits of green tea also involve problems with high cholesterol and improving the cholesterol rate in the body.  By drinking recommended amounts of green tea, the human body is cleansed from toxins that usually cause a lot of health problems, which in the future improves your health and your lifestyle as well.
Green tea is able to provide people with these benefits because it contains certain vitamins in which it is particularly rich in EGCG or epigallocatechil gallate.  This is a powerful anti-oxidant that inhibits cancer cell growth and kills present cancer cells without harming the rest of the healthy tissue in the body.  This element also helps in lowering cholesterol levels, balances them, and prevents the abnormal formation of blood clots in wounds.  EGCG has become so reliable and popular in the medical community that it even produces better results than red wine, which contains a polyphenol called resveratrol that prevents heart diseases as well.
Green tea is natural, so you can expect very few side effects or maybe none at all when drinking it regularly.  Other benefits that have been discovered recently include effective burning of calories when mixed with caffeine and the prevention of tooth decay and food poisoning because of its ability to destroy bacteria as well.
Chamomile Tea
Chamomile has been proven to show good results in the combating of various illnesses and diseases.  As well as effectively helping to combat stress and depression by relaxing the muscles in the brain, it can be used to defeat insomnia by relaxing the muscles and acting as a mild sedative.  The muscle relaxing attributes also helps to combat many other problems, including menstrual cramps.

The suggested teas for the protocol offer more benefits than a break from the daily gallon of water!
By drinking these teas during the protocol you are helping your body:

·         Detox the old fats your are processing
·          By adding essential vitamins and nutrients that the body needs when metabolizing fats at such a rapid rate
·         Helping lower cholesterol
·         Aiding in the body’s digestive processes
·         Boosting the body’s immune system
·         Promoting good sleeping habits

A Pregnancy Hormone Is Found to Reduce an AIDS Cancer

The purplish skin tumors of Kaposi's sarcoma, the most common form of cancer among people with AIDS, often yielded to injections of a hormone produced in pregnancy, according to preliminary findings from a small study.
Many small Kaposi's sarcoma tumors shrank, and some disappeared after the hormone, human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG), was injected into each cancer three times a week for two weeks in the study of 36 men being reported today in The New England Journal of Medicine.
Whether hCG will become a practical therapy for Kaposi's sarcoma is not yet clear because the drug is costly, and the number and size of such cancers vary widely. Many people with Kaposi's sarcoma have dozens of tumors over their body, some have hundreds, and the lesions can also occur in the lungs, liver and other organs.
For unknown reasons, Kaposi's sarcoma is more common in men than women. It was rare before the advent of AIDS in 1981. There is no fully effective therapy for Kaposi's, which can be fatal.
The larger the amount of hCG, the greater the effect it had on the tumors. The hormone triggers the cancer cells to commit a form of suicide, apoptosis, although exactly how it works is a mystery.
In some participants in the study, however, the tumors that disappeared after hormone injections returned two to three months later. Unwanted side effects occurred in a few patients. Thus larger studies are needed to determine the duration of the hormone's effect and the frequency and severity of side effects.
The experimental hormone therapy, which has not been tested systemically, can be likened to treating measles with an injection into each spot.
Nevertheless, ''the findings are very interesting'' and should be pursued aggressively in further research because of their potential importance in understanding Kaposi's sarcoma and other cancers, said Dr. Anthony Fauci, who heads the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases in Bethesda, Md.
Clues from the dramatic effects shown in the preliminary findings could lead to an effective systemic therapy for Kaposi's sarcoma, Dr. Fauci said in an interview. One goal is to determine exactly what substance in the preparation of hCG can shrink the tumors.
The new findings grow out of animal research by Dr. Robert Gallo's team at the National Cancer Institute, which found that an inbred strain of hairless mice, which are ordinarily susceptible to all sorts of cancer, could not be induced to get Kaposi's sarcoma if they were pregnant. Dr. Gallo has moved to the University of Maryland in Baltimore.
The researchers went on to find that chorionic gonadotropin, a hormone made early in pregnancy by the human placenta, apparently halted the cancer in test tube experiments.
In the latest study, a team led by Dr. Parkash S. Gill of the University of Southern California School of Medicine in Los Angeles tested four commercial preparations of hCG, which is a hormone derived from the urine of pregnant women. The researchers found that the one made by Wyeth-Ayerst Laboratories had the greatest effect.
The study was conducted in two parts.
In the first part, 24 patients were divided into four equal groups according to the amount of hCG that was injected into their tumors. The hormone was injected into two Kaposi's sarcoma tumors in each patient while sterile water was injected into a third tumor for purposes of comparison.
One of six patients responded to injections of the lowest amount of hCG. In the group receiving the largest amount, five of six patients responded. In this group, 10 of 12 injected tumors shrank and formed scabs.
The second part of the study involved 12 additional patients; two Kaposi's sarcoma tumors were injected in each patient. Six received the largest amount of hCG injected in the first group. Six received injections of sterile water. In this group, none of the doctors, nurses and pharmacists who examined the patients knew what was in the injections.
Ten of the 12 tumors regressed in the six patients injected with hCG.
Of five patients followed over the next two to three months, the hCG-injected tumors returned in two.
Injections of water did not shrink the tumors.
Five patients gained weight because of an increased appetite. But one patient declined further therapy after developing pain at the site of the first injection of hCG, another had mild fatigue, and a third experienced dizziness and nausea that disappeared after therapy was stopped.
In an editorial in the journal, Dr. Susan Krown of Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York City said that injection of individual Kaposi's sarcoma tumors had ''a limited and cosmetic role'' that might be valuable for selected patients. But, Dr. Krown went on, ''there is no evidence that controlling individual lesions (with hCG or any other technique) prevents lesions from developing elsewhere, nor is there unequivocal evidence that uninjected lesions benefit from a systemic effect of hCG.''

THE TOP 10 CARBOHYDRATES FOR A “HEALTHY” DIET?

This phrase alone was enough to make me nearly blow a gasket: "To lose body fat, you want to shoot for 150 g carbs/day, 150 g protein/day, and 75 g fat/day if you were the above person!" This is referring to a 200-pound individual with 25 percent body fat. I wonder how many carbs they'd recommend for a 350-pound man with 45 percent body fat?! Would you dare say 300 g carbs/day?! Sheeeeez!!!
Then you look at this list of the top ten carbs and it's the same stuff we always see.
Not all of it is bad, but most of it is:

10.) Brown rice (just because it's brown don't make it healthy!)
9.) Steel cut whole oatmeal (not going inside my body!)
8.) Quinoa (if I can't pronounce it, I ain't eatin' it!)
7.) Yams/sweet potatoes (Uhhh, no!)
6.) Winter squashes (not too bad, these are good!)
5.) Peas and Legumes (I don't eat beans or peas--too starchy!)
4.) Colorful fibrous veggies (again, not bad, but be choosy!)
3.) Super fruits (berries are amazing, but most other fruit is not!)
2.) Leafy green vegetables (this is the lifeblood of a low-carb diet!)
1.) Cruciferous vegetables (non-starchy veggies are truly the best!)

Yes, you want to eat some carbohydrates for their phytonutrient profile and nutritional impact on your body. But giving people the impression that they should be consuming triple-digit carb counts is irresponsible no matter how virtuous you make the carbs sound. Limiting your carb intake to double digits will make you healthier, more fit, and live longer than you ever would consuming a consistently triple-digit daily carbohydrate diet. There's no debating that based on all we know about carbs. To learn more about healthy dieting, Call HCG Medical for a FREE consultation.
